Beauty Habits: Top 3 Mistakes to Avoid

When you think of your typical beauty and makeup routine, what comes to your mind? Some powder over here, a hint of blush over there. Perhaps some eyeliner to make your eyes look bigger. We all have our preferences, but repetition can be misleading. Many people develop wrong beauty habits, and here are the top three that I’ve found:

1) Blush is definitely one product that people should make more use of because it’s a great fix. However, many are afraid to use it simply because they don’t know how to. Most of the time they use dark colors that do not look good on all types of skin. Try a light peachy color with a hint of gold and shimmer. This way you get some color and a little hint of shimmer. You might want to look at Channel’s Orchid Rose and Benefit’s Dandelion.

2) Eyeliner is usually either underused or overused. The common mistake for overusing it is by applying it on both the top and the bottom of your eyes. It closes the eye and makes it look smaller. For better results, use it only at once place. If you choose the bottom, use a gel liner and put it along the wet line of your eyelid, on the inside. You should never apply it on the outside! If you chose to put on top you have two options. You can either use a gel liner or use a thin brush that you dab along your lash line. I do not recommend pencil liners because they’re too rough and cannot achieve a nice, thin and clean look. I’ve found that Bobby Brown’s gel liner works best for everything.

3) Once again, I’m bringing up face scrubs. Many people think that they should use a face scrub everyday, but this product has an awful effect on your skin. It throws off your skin’s pH balance, which ends up causing dryness and breakouts. It also causes many other skin problems like redness, which are usually hard to recover from. If you need to use a face scrub, the only product line I recommend is Dermologica’s Daily Microfoliant. Gently use it once a week by mixing it with a Cetaphil cleanser.

Any products you might not be sure how to use? Let me know in the comments!
